Back in December 1989 we were living in Florida. Our children were little and it was about a month or two before we moved to New England in January of 1990. I was at a friend’s house for a last luncheon get-together before we moved away. Bonnie always made the greatest stuff. While there, I copied out several of her recipes.
Some of those recipes came from a church cookbook she had from when she and Ray were first married back in Louisville, KY. I loved the cookbook so I ordered a copy of my own. Right before moving I made up a batch of these delicious treats from that cookbook. The person who submitted the recipe called them “Dandy Do-Little’s” because there’s so little work involved. But really, these are more aptly named Reese’s Peanut Butter Bars because they taste just like the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups you buy commercially. I’ve seen this recipe all over the Internet but I have no idea who genuinely created the recipe.
If you enjoy Reese’s peanut butter chips, cups, or candies you may also enjoy my reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Surprise Brownies, Reese’s Chocolate Peanut Butter Bars, Reese’s Peanut Butter Candy Chocolate Cookies, Reese Cup Brownies, or Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Surprises. All of them have wonderful chocolatey and peanutty flavors that are quite spectacular.
I’ve made this recipe several times over the years, and they are certainly a fantastic holiday treat because you can whip them up so quickly and easily. I’ve found it is easier to cut these bars if they’re frozen slightly or refrigerated for several hours first so they set up a little better. If you’re looking for a great dessert to wow your holiday guests, please put this recipe on your menu immediately! You, and they, will be salivating until these are ready to be consumed.

Reese’s Peanut Butter Bars are so quick and easy to make up. They make great holiday treats. I love that fact that this is a no-bake recipe.
Here’s what I did.
In a large mixing bowl measure out graham cracker crumbs.
Add melted butter.
Add peanut butter and powdered sugar and stir well to combine.
Grease or spray the bottom of a 9×13″ glass baking dish and spread peanut butter mixture into the pan.
Press down well with your hands to make the bottom layer.
Melt a bag of chocolate chips and a stick of butter over low heat until completely melted.
Whisk until smooth.
Spread chocolate mixture over top of the peanut butter mixture. Refrigerate several hours before cutting. You can also freeze for an hour or so the bars set up for cutting more easily and quickly.
