Homemade Gluten Free Croutons
Gluten Free Living – 2016
Homemade Gluten Free Croutons are the B-E-S-T!! Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to find gluten free croutons anywhere, and the regular croutons in the grocery store are made with HFCS, preservatives, MSG, and other stuff that is so unhealthy. So when I saw this recipe, I decided I’d give it a try. I used my favorite Canyon Bakehouse gluten free bread and followed the recipe closely with the exception of adding Italian seasoning. We thought these croutons were terrific.

We had some friends over for dinner back in early October that we had been trying to get together with for months. They allowed us to store some of our heavier, bulkier items, like a riding lawn mower, extra refrigerator, extra large tool chest, lawn furniture and shelving units for our garage in their airplane hangar while we were building our house. We’ve been moved in since March but it seemed like we were never in town together at the same time!
Finally, we had them over for steaks and I made a delicious BLT Salad with a Creamy Parmesan Dressing and these Homemade Gluten Free Croutons along with a couple of veggies and some Fudgy Brownie Cookies. Everyone loved the salad and these croutons. In fact, they couldn’t believe I made them from scratch.
Obviously, while I used gluten free bread, any kind of bread can be used. For that matter, this recipe would be a great way to use up leftover rolls or stale bread. These croutons are incredibly easy to make and taste so much better than regular croutons!
Plus, if you like to eat gluten free as much as possible (like me), then here is a great way to add croutons to your salad or soups that you are able to eat. I kept the croutons in a zip-lock bag out on the counter for several days with no problems. I wouldn’t refrigerate these croutons though or they might get soggy.
If you’re looking for a delicious gluten free option for homemade croutons, then give these delicious Homemade Gluten Free Croutons a try. These use both butter and olive oil along with fresh garlic, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper. That’s it. It takes only a few minutes to have the croutons oven ready and then 20 minutes to bake them up to perfection. The end result is so delicious you’ll wonder why you haven’t been making croutons this way for a long time!
Homemade Gluten Free Croutons are spectacular served on your favorite soup or salad.
The garlic and Italian seasoning make these croutons taste so wonderfully.
For those of you who desire a gluten free option for croutons, this recipe is great.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients. Canyon Bakehouse makes a GF Mountain White bread and a GF 7-grain bread that are excellent choices for this recipe.
In a small saucepan melt butter over low to medium heat. Add olive oil, garlic and seasonings.
Meanwhile, cut the bread into cubes. Leave the crusts on for added flavor and texture.
Once butter melts, stir ingredients in saucepan and remove from heat.
Add olive oil to bread cubes and stir to evenly coat cubes as much as possible.
Here the bread cubes are well coated with the olive oil sauce.
Place seasoned bread cubes in a single layer on a large cookie sheet. Don’t over crowd the croutons.
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes. The croutons will be crunchy and golden brown.
Serve Homemade Gluten Free Croutons in place of regular croutons on your favorite salad.
Homemade Gluten Free Croutons work really well with a BLT Salad!
