Maple Pecan Pie

December 23, 2019Teresa

Maple Pecan Pie is so, so very rich. This scrumptious Pecan Pie is made with maple syrup instead of corn syrup. It’s a thousand times better! It’s so decadent. If you want a drool worthy dessert to serve at your Christmas table, this is it!

I love Pecan Pie although I didn’t grow up eating them. My mom never made them. I think because pecans may have been too expensive at the time. I didn’t eat my first Pecan Pie until I was in my early twenties. I fell in love at first bite! An elderly lady at our church used to make them regularly. Oh, my.

We went to a college age game night a couple of months ago. I brought a couple of Caramel Pecan Pies that went wild! I work with the college age students and young adults at our church. We serve dinner every Sunday night at the director’s house. About once every two months or so we change things up and have a game night. Another care group in our church helps sponsor the night by providing food.

One of the young guys from that care group was in the kitchen helping get everything ready. He told me about his wife’s grandma making Pecan Pie with Maple Syrup. I decided I had to give it a go. So I started with my regular Pecan Pie recipe. Wow, it was so rich but everyone loved this Maple Pecan Pie.

I brought it to one of the College Group’s Sunday night dinners a couple of weeks later. I made a large Taco Salad and some Guacamole to go along with it. Everyone kept digging in to everything. I think after everyone had a slab of Maple Pecan Pie, the whole group has gone from being merely Chocolate Chip Cookie eaters to homemade pie lovers. 🙂

Maple Pecan Pie is a splendid dessert for Christmas. But I will warn you. This pie is really rich. You may have to cut it in smaller pieces to serve. Plus, everyone will want a piece, won’t they? Yes, they will. 🙂

    Hi Teresa,
Love all the pecan pies recipes… I enjoy reading what the cooks do and did, and love it when they say if you just want recipe click here….so I usually click there and write down recipe, but I do go back and read the entire blog….
Some blogs it is so hard to even find the recipe !!!!
We don’t mean to sound rude, I just commented on another blog the music was so annoying….hope I’m not booted off, because she does have great recipes….but can’t stand annoying music….I have cancel several blogs lately because of the annoying either at the beginning on the blog or in between…I try to mute it, but then end up missing some of what they are saying….I would rather hear the cook talk instead of playing that annoying music and sometimes even tho I can turn it down, they have it so loud when I turn all the way down, can still hear it…
So thank you for understanding….. I always comment on every blog I belong too and let them know when I love their recipes & the entire blog….but some people doesn’t like it, as you can tell from other comments….like it you don’t like it don’t watch it….but I do like the recipes….and maybe bloggers aren’t aware of issues like this….
Honest I have seen blogs, that would show a recipe I really liked and read all the blah blah blah and still couldn’t find recipe,,,,I even reply to the owner where is the recipe….I read it all and don’t see it, then they send me the recipe or even say click here for the recipe….and that is nice…..
I think it might be Christy Jordan who has a blog, I think it’s Souther Spoon, she has lots of great recipes and I love almost all of them….and she will say right on the first page to go straight to the recipe, click here…..but she always tells stories about her recipes that I like to read, so if not in a hurry I will read all the blog and then go to the recipe….but sometimes I just want a recipe and I can always go straight to it and not have to listen to her story first so she must understand how us bloggers are too…..

So thank you for understanding us and I will continue to watch use, read and enjoy your blog & recipes….I love hearing things about the owner of the blog their daily things, etc but sometimes I just like to go to the recipe…..but I always make note to go back and read it…..I like to save most of them so they don’t get deleted…..

Like I said looking forward to making all these pies, I do make a Pecan pie but never thought to use Maple syrup in it and it is so expensive but I imagine it would be much better….

I ordered a Kentucky Bourbon Pie from Lexington and it was not cheap, but it was so rich and we all loved it….could only eat a small slice….best pecan pie I ever had….I even sent my son one when he was in AFGHANISTAN and he shared it with his buddies and they all loved it….that one pie cost me a fortune to buy it, mail it there and insure it….but it was so worth it for our Military boys…..

Thanks Teresa, and have a great 2020….. (1/1/20)

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I totally understand that not everyone has time to read the intro to someone’s blog post. Generally speaking, I scroll down to the bottom and look for the recipe. I only read the blog post when I’m actually making that recipe so that I don’t miss any tips from the maker that would help in the process. My time is so limited that that’s the way it works best for me. The pie did turn out wonderfully, but it is exceptionally rich. I try to buy maple syrup in bulk in the fall when it’s cheaper and keep it in my pantry throughout the year for just a recipe like this. 🙂

Teresa, I did not comment the other day when I saw “Betsy’s” comment, but I finally decided I had to say something. I wish I could be sure “Betsy” would see this and understand just how rude and offensive her comments are. So how does she know that “many others” dislike your background information? That is just a silly exaggeration in hopes of bolstering her petty complaint.

Your gracious response is far kinder than could be expected and I admire you greatly for that.

Best wishes to you and those you love for a wonderful 2020–
    Mary

Ya know, I and many others, don’t really care about all the blah blah blah and your mom not making it and the collage age game and all the rest. Just get to the recipe and do your blah blah blah after that. I don’t mean to be insulting, but this makes me and others crazy. What I mean to say is, we don’t really care about all of that. You didn’t get to the actual recipe until way after the 1/2 way point of this site. Put all of the blah blah blah after the recipe and those who care about it will read it, we who don’t, will thank you. I usually just delete recipes that have all of this blah blah blah because it’s cumbersome, but I just wanted to make a point here.

Hi, Betsy. You must not frequent very many food blogs. All of them have the recipe featured at the bottom of the post. If you want to avoid my commentary, simply scroll to the bottom of the post. It’s really very easy. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
