Cherry Crumble

Teresa Ambra

Cherry Crumble is such a scrumptious dessert. This one is also pretty easy, especially if you have a cherry pitter. Plus, it only uses 5 ingredients! It’s basically two layers. The bottom layer consists of cherries, water and sugar. (Of course). The top layer is a crumble topping. It has flour, brown sugar and butter. Simple, easy and so delicious.

When I received 20-pounds of fresh cherries from the Northwest Cherry Growers back in 2019, I started asking friends for cherry recipes. I adapted and used a lot of my recipes for peaches, apples and other fruits.

But I used two recipes from a friend whose husband loves cherries. Cherry Crumble is one of those desserts. Jamie actually referred to this as “Crumb Top Pie,” but since this is not a pie, I’m calling it Cherry Crumble. She usually crumbles the topping ingredients with her fingers until they form crumbles. But I didn’t have time for that. I used a pastry blender instead.

Out of ten recipes I made this summer, this one was probably the easiest. John took it out to his office (along with some other desserts) the Monday after the July 4th weekend. Yes, it was gobbled up in no time. It was so good, in fact, I’m sharing the recipe with you again! 🙂

If you love cherry desserts, give Cherry Crumble a try. It’s a little similar to my Cherry Crisp (without oatmeal) and my Cherry Crumb Pie (without pie crust). Your family is sure to enjoy this delectable dessert while fresh cherries are still in season.
