Citrus Apple Tossed Salad
Oranges, apples, grapes and grapefruit are featured in this healthy and delicious recipe. It includes croutons and small cubes of cream cheese on top, and has a tasty chive salad dressing that makes the salad come together very well. If you enjoy grapefruit and oranges, this is a great way to include them in your daily diet.

Earlier in the winter we had been given some grapefruit by a neighbor. I started looking for recipes and ways to use up the grapefruit in some of my old Taste of Home cookbooks. I stumbled upon this recipe and decided to give it a try. Citrus Apple Tossed Salad is full of different textures and tastes. Some sweet, some tart, some savory! Regardless, this is a great way to enjoy Tossed Salad and if you have some grapefruit or oranges that need to be used up, why not try them in a salad?
I hosted a Ladies’ Salad Luncheon for our community group over Spring Break. I made up a Peachy Berry Tossed Salad, Chunky Maple Applesauce and this Citrus Apple Tossed Salad. All the other ladies brought salads or dessert. It was fun trying out all those different salads. While this salad is certainly good with the salad dressing recipe provided here, it’s also delicious with a sweeter dressing. We tried it both ways and enjoyed it both ways! 🙂
I made a few changes to the original recipe by adding celery, cucumber and red grapes. I also did not add as many chives as were called for in the salad dressing. I thought the amount given was overkill. We liked it well enough with the changes I made. If you enjoy tossed salads with fruit, this one is a dandy.
Citrus Apple Tossed Salad is crunchy and delicious.
The salad dressing includes chives which spice up the salad a little.
Apples and citrus pair really well together. A little bit of sweet with a little bit of tart.

Chop up chives on a cutting board.
Add chives.
Add chives and stir and shake well.

Toss salad with dressing or serve dressing over individual salad plates.
Citrus Apple Tossed Salad is a delectable recipe to add to your Ladies’ Luncheon menus!
Here the salad has been tossed with dressing.
We liked this salad with the chive dressing that came with the original recipe. But we also enjoyed it with sweeter dressings too.
Here’s the recipe.
