If you enjoy Snickerdoodles, you’ll love these donuts!
This recipe makes 22 donuts, so it’s perfect for a large company or holiday breakfast. Although everyone may want two or three!
Snickerdoodle Donuts are huge on cinnamon flavor! And yet, no one thought there was too much cinnamon!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients for the donuts.
Place UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour into a large mixing bowl. (Bleached flour toughens baked goods). Add granulated sugar, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
Stir ingredients well to combine; set aside.
In a medium mixing bowl, melt butter in microwave.
Add applesauce and buttermilk.
Add vanilla extract and cinnamon chips.
Whisk ingredients to combine.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients.
Stir ingredients just until moistened.
Spoon mixture into a gallon-size glad lock bag (without the “stand and fill” bottom.)
Seal top. Cut off a corner on the bottom.
Spray 22 donut tins with cooking spray. Pipe donut mixture into individual tins.
Bake at 400 degrees for 9 to 10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
I used these ingredients for the coating.
Melt butter in a microwaveable bowl; set aside.
Place granulated sugar and cinnamon in another bowl.
Stir with a fork until very well combined.
Remove a donut from the donut pan very gently lifting with a regular table knife.
Dip the donut in butter.
Here, I’ve dipped one side of the donut in melted butter.
Dredge the melted butter side in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
This is the first coat of cinnamon-sugar on one side off the donut.
Now dip the other side in melted butter.
Here the other side is dipped in melted butter.
Now dip the buttered side in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Sprinkle cinnamon-sugar mixture over top of donuts again, dredging and sprinkling each side a total of about four times until you have a really nice coating of cinnamon-sugar on each donut.
Place the coated donuts on a wire rack.
Every bite is mouthwatering. No kidding!
All of our neighbors raved over these scrumptious donuts.
Make up a batch of Snickerdoodle Donuts for your next holiday or company breakfast.
Yes, your family will probably eat stacks of these irresistible donuts.

A rather special type of donut, but isn’t it too sweet?

I surveyed everyone I gave one of these donuts to, in order to find out if they were too sweet. Everyone thought they were fantastic just as they are. Hope that helps.

I bought my donut pans at Jo-Ann’s fabric and crafts. They may have an online store.
