Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies
Gluten Free Living – 2016
Wow, Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies are breathtaking. This is a fantastic healthier brownie recipe for those of you who are trying to watch your sugar and gluten. I started with my regular brownie recipe, but used coconut sugar instead of the regular sugar and gluten free flour instead of regular flour.

I added sliced almonds, almond extract and a package of carob-flavored healthy chocolate chips without all the preservatives in the batter and on top before baking. On top of that I used 90% dark chocolate that made these brownies so chocolaty they were to die for! These healthier brownies turned out way better than my expectations. They were so thick and fudgy I wanted to eat the whole pan at once! I almost did…..
Back in September, I decided to try to make a dessert that was enjoyable, yet without cane sugar or flour. I was also trying to use more natural ingredients so I found a package of chocolate chips at Sprouts that didn’t have all the preservatives and bad ingredients most chocolate chips have.
These brownies are fudgy, dense and thick just the way you want brownies to be. They have plenty of sweetness from the coconut sugar (which is almost like working with brown sugar or sucanat), and plenty of crunch from the chocolate chips and sliced almonds.
All I can say is Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies turned out spectacularly. They were gone in three days and I ate the whole pan. Yes, gluttony describes the situation accurately. 🙁 I really couldn’t stay out of them. I had a handful with lunch, another handful for dinner, a handful for snacks. You get the picture. Yes, they are and were extremely addictive.
If you’re looking for an alternative to regular brownies and want a healthier version, this one is sensational. Give Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies a try the next time you have sugar cravings. You’ll never be able to tell they’re made with healthier ingredients or that they’re gluten free. They’re amazing.
Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies are spectacular.
These brownies are rich, dense and decadent even though they use healthier ingredients.
Every bite of Gluten Free Fudgy Almond Brownies will have you coming back for more!
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients, but I don’t recommend using Pamela’s gluten free mixes. They’re not one-to-one equivalents for texture and the taste is off. However, that was the only thing readily available when I first made this recipe. I prefer Cup4Cup.
Melt butter and chocolate in a small saucepan over low to medium heat.
In a separate bowl, beat eggs until frothy. Add coconut sugar and almond extract.
Whisk to combine.
Once the chocolate is melted, add it to the sugar mixture.
Add gluten free flour, sliced almonds and miniature chocolate chips.
Stir mixture with a wooden spoon to combine well.
Grease a 9×13″ glass baking dish. Add brownie batter. Top with additional sliced almonds and miniature chocolate chips.
Bake at 350 for 35-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
These lovely brownies are great for tailgating parties or family fun. No one will be able to guess they’re healthier than most brownie recipes or gluten free!
If you like a thick, dense brownie these fit the bill. The almond flavoring and almonds in the batter provide a great punch to the recipe which makes these brownies marvelous.
Here’s the recipe.

I skipped the chocolate chips because I think they normally make brownies too sweet. But these were a bit on the dry/cakey side so maybe they need it.

Yes, it’s always better to have the chocolate chips added.

Hi Teresa, I pinned these like 6 times to different boards. They look dangerous, and I like that! I would have eaten the whole pan just like you. 🙂
