Banana Sea Salt Caramel Blondies
Banana Sea Sea Caramel Blondies are awesome! They are decadent, irresistible cookies you won’t be able to tear yourself away from. These amazing blondies use bananas, pecans and sea salt caramel chips in the cookie layer. Then they’re topped with a luscious Sea Salt Caramel powdered sugar icing for double the caramel goodness. After topping with vanilla ice cream, I drizzled caramel sauce over top for a triple caramel treat. 🙂 Awesome indeed.

A few weeks ago our church secretary contacted me asking me to bake up some goodies for a Wednesday night meeting with parents and youth. I made these blondies and a batch of Fudge Frosted Chunky Monkey Brownies based on two very popular recipes already on my blog. Both recipes turned out fantastic as our youth minister informed me last week. He and another youth leader sampled a couple of each of them and told me they were dreamy.
The only way to use bananas in cookies/brownies and not get too cakey of a brownie is to use no more than one banana. This recipe called for two however. Since I really wanted to use up some overripe bananas I went with two bananas. I have been doing my best to clean out about 10 bags of leftover pecans from Christmas baking and finally only have a few left. Also, I had a bag of Sea Salt Caramel Chips that needed to go, so voila! This recipe was created.
Believe me, there’s no scrimping with either flavor or calories in this jewel of a recipe. But if you want a dessert that’s terrific for a potluck or tailgating party, this is one you should give a try. If you’re a caramel lover, these blondies will knock your socks off! 🙂

This is a great way to use up overripe bananas.
These blondies have triple the caramel flavor when you add caramel sauce on top!
Banana Sea Salt Caramel Blondies are terrific for tailgating parties and potlucks.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients for the brownie layer.
Soften butter. Add brown sugar, eggs, baking soda, baking powder, salt and bananas.
Whisk ingredients to combine (or use an electric mixer).
Add UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour. Bleached flour toughens baked goods. Add sea salt caramel chips and finely diced pecans.
Stir ingredients with a wooden spoon to combine.
Pat mixture into a greased 9×13″ glass baking dish. (I had to moisten my hands to do this).
Bake at 350 for about 20-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely before adding icing.
I used these ingredients for the icing.
Melt sea salt caramel chips in microwave. Stir every 15-30 seconds until done – about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes.
Add melted butter.
Add vanilla and powdered sugar.
Whisk to combine.
Spread over top of cooled brownie layer as quickly as possible. (Before the icing sets up too much and becomes hard).
Serving Banana Sea Salt Caramel Blondies a la mode is the way to go!
These blondies pack nicely for travel or freezing, too.
Of course, a little drizzle of caramel sauce doesn’t hurt either. 🙂
If you enjoy bananas and caramel together in Banana Pudding, you’ll love it in these blondies as well.
Every bite is mouthwatering.
