Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies
Gluten Free Living – 2023
Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies are outstanding. These luscious miniature Pecan Pies with miniature chocolate chips are a real delight – whether you eat gluten free or not. I started with one of my favorite Christmas treat recipes and opted for gluten free flour rather than regular. Then I added the miniature chocolate chips for a dose of chocolate. We loved, loved, loved these spectacular Christmas treats!

It’s hard to believe I’ve been posting about gluten free food options for ten years now. It was rarely even heard of or diagnosed much before that time. We had several folks who we wanted to give Christmas baking packages to last year who need gluten free options. So I made four different things based off familiar vintage recipes I’ve used for years.
Everyone ooooohed and aaawwwwweeeed over these wonderful finger food treats. The only thing really different about making them gluten free versus using regular flour is that the crust seems to brown more quickly than with regular flour. I have found this happens frequently with some (but not all) gluten free flours.
Other than that, it’s hard to tell that this recipe is gluten free. For those of you who don’t need or want to make anything gluten free, this recipe can easily be converted by using regular flour. If you want a delicious treat for tailgating parties, potlucks, the Super Bowl or holiday baking, Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies are sensational!

Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies are amazing.

These breathtaking miniature Pecan Pies are wonderful treats for tailgating parties.

They’re also great for holiday baking.
Here’s what I did.

I used these ingredients for the crust layer. I used Walmart’s gluten free flour.

Soften cream cheese and butter. (I actually left them out on the counter top overnight to soften).

Cream cream cheese and butter with an electric mixer until smooth.

Add gluten free flour (or you can use regular flour).

Stir ingredients to combine.

Measure out one tablespoon of dough and roll into balls. We have these really old, vintage metal measuring spoons that are perfect for this recipe.

Spray miniature muffin tins with cooking spray. Press the dough into the muffin tins and spread so the entire surface including the sides is covered. You will need to use a little gluten free flour on your finger tips to accomplish this otherwise the dough is sticky and hard to work with.

I used these ingredients for the filling.

Place egg, brown sugar, miniature chocolate chips and pecan chips or pieces into a mixing bowl.

Stir ingredients to combine.

Press about one-half to one teaspoon of the filling into each pie “shell.” Be careful not to overfill the shells because the filling expands while baking and you’ll end up with a mess otherwise.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes, until cookies are set. Allow miniature pecan pies to cool 45 minutes before removing from tins.

Remove individual Chocolate Pecan Pies from tins very gently (with a butter knife, if necessary). Then place each treat in a small miniature paper liner.

Seriously, Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies will rock your world!

Wow your gluten free family and friends with these amazing cookies. No one will believe they’re gluten free!

(My own concoction)

Gluten Free Chocolate Pecan Pies are outrageously good! These outstanding miniature Pecan Pies include chocolate chips for increased wow factor and deliciousness. The treats are perfect for tailgating parties, potlucks and holiday baking like a Christmas Cookie Exchange. You can use either gluten free or regular flour–both turn out fantastic. Wow your friends and family with these amazing cookies.
- 24-tin miniature muffin tins
- large mixing bowls
- electric mixer
- wooden spoons
- measuring cups
- measuring spoons
- nut chopper
- wire cooling racks
- paper cupcake holders
SHELL:
- 16 oz. pkg. cream cheese (softened)
- 1 cup salted butter (softened (2 sticks))
- 2 cups gluten free flour ((or use regular flour))
FILLING:
- 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup pecan pieces ((measure after chopping))
- 1 cup miniature chocolate chips
SHELL:
Spray miniature muffin tins with cooking spray.
Combine shell ingredients in a medium mixing bowl.
Use about 1 rounded tablespoonful of dough (shell) for each tin.
Press dough in bottom and sides of tins.
FILLING:
In a separate mixing bowl, mix brown sugar and egg with mixer.
Stir in pecans and miniature chocolate chips.
Fill each muffin shell with approximately ½ teaspoonful filling and press lightly into shell.
Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes.
Cool 45 minutes in pans before removing to wire rack.
Add paper cupcake holders after, if desired.
Makes about 60 miniature muffins.
NOTE: It is easier to work with this recipe if the dough is at room temperature and the filling has been chilled.
NOTE: Do not overfill the shells because the brown sugar filling expands a lot during baking. It will over flow the shell and then the Pecan Pies become very difficult to remove from the pans. Use only between ½ to 1 teaspoon of filling in each tin.
NOTE: Lightly flour your finger tips with gluten free flour before pushing the shell up the sides of the miniature muffin tins. This prevents the dough from sticking to your fingers and being pulled apart.
NOTE: This recipe can easily be converted using regular flour instead of gluten free flour if you desire.
