Peach Spice Cookies
Peach Spice Cookies are incredible. These rich, decadent cookies are filled with peaches, almonds, cinnamon and cloves, then a lavish lemon buttercream frosting is spread on top. I couldn’t gobble these fabulous cookies down quickly enough! Anything with a real frosting (not simply a glaze) is an added bonus for me because I love frostings added to cookies, bars and cakes.

I’m one of those oddballs who would prefer eating the icing instead of the cookie or cake in most cases. 🙂 I just love frosting and this one is lovely with a nice, delicate lemon touch.
I was hunting through my recipes last month looking for another one to use up some peaches. I came across one from my best recipe pin-pal, Mimi Pownall. Mimi and I got to know each other when we attended church together in Largo, Florida back in the 1980s. Her youngest son and my oldest son were only one week apart in age so our kids were always in the nursery and school together, too.
When I typed up Mimi’s recipes for her into a cookbook back in 1984, she had a recipe for Banana Spice Cookies. I used that recipe to make this heavenly Peach Spice Cookies recipe.
If you enjoy spices like cinnamon and cloves, you will love them with peaches. Especially in these cookies! They have a lemon buttercream frosting added on top which is sensational. The frosting contrasts amazingly with the spicy flavor adding extra zest to the recipe. These soft cookies have a delightful, crunchy and chewy texture, too, because of the almonds. I think everyone who tries Peach Spice Cookies will soon fall in love with them. I sure did. 😉
Peach Spice Cookies are so delectable. The Lemon Buttercream Frosting is to die for!
Each Peach Spice Cookie is filled with peaches and almonds and flavored with both cinnamon and cloves for a nice spicy flavor.
I love cookies with icing. I could have eaten a ton of these cookies. 🙂
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients to make the cookie.
Place softened butter, brown sugar, eggs, cinnamon, cloves, salt, baking soda and baking powder in a mixing bowl.
Mix with an electric mixer until smooth.
Add UNBLEACHED all-purpose flour. Bleached flour toughens baked goods. Add finely diced peaches and sliced almonds.
Stir with a wooden spoon to combine.
Spray cookie sheets with cooking spray. Using a 1/4 cup ice cream scoop, scoop dough and place on cookie sheets.
Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes. Cool cookies completely before spreading with frosting.
While cookies are baking, prepare Lemon Buttercream Frosting. I used these ingredients.
Place powdered sugar, softened butter, cream, lemon zest and lemon juice in a small mixing bowl.
Whisk ingredients to combine.
Spread frosting on top of cooled cookies.
Peach Spice Cookies are great cookies to take to fun summer events and tailgating parties.
I can’t tell you how wonderful these cookies tasted. Oh, my.
Peach Spice Cookies are terrific for summer holiday fun. Peaches are in season from June into September so it’s a great time to make these amazing treats.
Here’s the recipe.
