Creamy Pear Salad
This Creamy Pear Salad recipe is amazing. It’s made with a delightful cream cheese and sour cream base. Toss in a couple different kinds of pears, some pecans and some sugar along the way and it’s absolutely marvelous. It’s a terrific side dish for any occasion lunch or dinner menu.
The combination of cream cheese, sour cream, sugar and vanilla in the creamy base is so delectable for a fruit salad. Then when you top it with brown sugar and pecans, the flavors are amped up even more. This recipe is gluten free for those with gluten issues. I like it because it doesn’t take all that long to whip up. Maybe ten to twelve minutes. That’s my kind of side dish!
I had several pears in my refrigerator that I needed to use up a month or so ago. I decided to whip up this dreamy salad to go along with a Shepherd’s Pie recipe for our Friday night group. Then a couple of days later I served it to our group of college kids so they got a taste of this easy and delicious recipe. This salad was gobbled up quickly by those we served it to.
This salad was enjoyed by all, young and old alike! I’ve made it with grapes, strawberries and kiwi, blackberries and ambrosia style. Every version turns out fantastic. This one was no different. I did swish the pears around in lemon juice before adding to the recipe. That way they didn’t discolor. It will last about a day so you need to make it for company or plan to eat it up within 24 hours or so. If you use canned pears it will last much longer.
Creamy Pear Salad is an awesome salad for potlucks, company or holiday dinners. I recommend it for Thanksgiving or Christmas since it can be made a few hours beforehand. If you choose to use canned pears, you won’t need to bother with lemon juice. It will also last for several days in the refrigerator so you can make it in advance. That will free you up for making other dishes.

I recommend using at least two different types of pears for color and flavor.
Creamy Pear Salad is so quick and easy to make up. I had this salad whipped up in about 10 minutes.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Soften cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Add sour cream, vanilla and sugar.
Cream ingredients with an electric mixer until smooth.
Dice pears and swish them in lemon juice.
Drain on paper towels for a minute or so.
Add drained pears to cream cheese mixture. (I used two kinds of pears). You can also use canned pears.
Stir ingredients to combine.
Transfer ingredients to a serving bowl. Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over top.
Sprinkle with coarsely chopped pecans.
Refrigerate. Garnish with fresh pear slices and maraschino cherries, before serving, if desired.
Spoon Creamy Pear Salad into serving bowls.
