Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal
Gluten Free Living – 2021
Pears and walnuts in oatmeal, oh my! Yes, this delicious Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal contains pears, walnuts, bananas, raisins and spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to give it a powerful punch! This fantastic oatmeal recipe is healthy, vegan, gluten free and sugar free. Plus, it’s a stick-to-the-ribs breakfast so you don’t have to eat quite so soon again.
My husband asked me to make some oatmeal up with pears. He said the oatmeal with apple and pears were his favorites. He needed to start eating steel-cut oats on a regular basis to lower his cholesterol. He also preferred me to make the oatmeal without excess sugar (since sugar converts to cholesterol in the body!) So this recipe is sweetened by the pears, bananas and raisins. But if you need it sweeter, sprinkle a spoonful of sugar over the top before serving.
Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal is excellent for breakfast anytime and the leftovers heat up easily. I’ve even frozen the oatmeal and then thawed and reheated later. The misnomer about overnight oatmeal recipes is that they usually only take about 5 hours to cook through (even in your slowest crockpot). If you have a programmable timer on your slow cooker, that is ideal. Otherwise, you can make this anytime of the day and heat later.
If you enjoy pears, you’ll love this delightful breakfast. It’s great for a company or a weekend breakfast too. If you have special dietary needs, this is a terrific option as well. Enjoy.
Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal is a wonderful breakfast option.
I tossed extra pears, walnuts and some strawberries on top!
This delicious oatmeal is sugar free. But if you want it sweeter, you can always sprinkle a little sugar over top before serving.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients, plus water.
Pour steel-cut oats into a mixing bowl.
Add sliced bananas, walnuts, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.
Add pears and oat milk. Oat milk gives the oatmeal a creamier texture than water alone.
Stir to combine.
Grease a large crockpot. Add oatmeal mixture to crockpot and stir well.
Cook on low setting for 5 hours.
Serve with fresh fruit, if desired.
Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal is healthy, vegan, gluten free, sugar free and dairy free.
This hearty entree is so filling and satisfying.
Here’s the recipe.
PEAR WALNUT OVERNIGHT OATMEAL
(My own concoction)
This is a great way to use up pears in a recipe!
The crunch from the walnuts, the sweetness from the fruit and the seasoning from the spices makes Pear Walnut Overnight Oatmeal an excellent breakfast for your family.
We loved the way this oatmeal turned out. If you have a programmable timer on your slow cooker, that makes this recipe even easier. Just set it to a few minutes before you want to serve breakfast! Yum.
