Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken really turned out delicious. I was looking for ways to use up some chicken thighs I had in my freezer and stumbled upon this recipe. I ended up making a batch with boneless chicken thighs and another with boneless chicken breasts. Both turned out extraordinarily well.

I made several different chicken dishes for an Empty Nesters potluck back in January. Along with this recipe, I brought a Chicken Thighs with Garlic Parmesan Sauce and a Creamy Garlic Mushroom Chicken Thighs. I like bringing main dishes to potlucks especially ones that are not pasta-based, since everyone always brings that. Besides the guys always seem to like meat and potatoes so chicken recipes always go over really well.
We had a little left over and John and I ate it for leftovers afterwards. I thought the taste of the sauce was really excellent. Plus, this is so easy since it’s made in the slow cooker. Let me just suggest one thing. Don’t go strictly by the time. I found that my chicken was ready before the specified time on the recipe – even in my slowest crockpot. So keep checking it. Boneless chicken thighs may be ready in about two or two-and-a-half hours. Boneless chicken breasts will be ready in 3 hours or less. If you know your crockpot runs hot, check it sooner!
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is terrific teamed up with rice. Mine had a wild rice and quinoa blend. It was wonderful with it. I added Roasted Italian Tomatoes as a side, but a salad or other veggie will work fine too. One of the best things about this recipe is that it’s so easy to assemble. Stir the sauce together and then add the chicken. Can’t be any easier than that!
If you enjoy an Asian flair to your chicken dishes, this one is easy, tasty and filling. Even your kids will like this scrumptious chicken entree. You can always get creative and add some egg rolls or pot stickers. Yum. Regardless, it’s a delightful way to enjoy chicken.
Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is fantastic!
A little sprinkling of green onions and sesame seeds on top adds just the right flavor.
I served it with a wild rice and quinoa blend along with Roasted Italian Tomatoes and fruit. It was superb.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients plus water.
Place half of the green onions, all of the ginger, garlic, oyster sauce, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce, butter and honey in a crockpot.
Whisk thoroughly.
Place chicken thighs in the sauce.
Turn chicken thighs over to coat well with sauce.
Here, I’ve done the same thing with chicken breasts.
Cover with lid and cook on low setting about 2 1/2 hours for boneless chicken thighs and about 3 hours for boneless chicken breasts, or until done.
(Boneless chicken breasts and boneless chicken thighs cook much more quickly than bone-in chicken pieces. Adjust cooking time accordingly. Your chicken thighs may be done in 2 1/2 hours unless you pack a lot of them in the sauce.)
Combine corn starch with water.
Stir cornstarch mixture into sauce and heat through the last 30 minutes of cooking time.
Sprinkle remaining green onion slices and sesame seeds over top before serving.
Serve chicken pieces over hot, cooked rice.
Besides the rice, this is wonderful served with fresh fruit and Roasted Italian Tomatoes.
This recipe works well with either boneless chicken thighs or boneless chicken breasts. Add a few green onion slices and sesame seeds and you’re good to go.
Here’s the recipe.

The sauce for Slow Cooker Honey Garlic Chicken is outstanding. But because it uses either hoisin sauce or oyster sauce this recipe is not gluten free.
Serve over wild rice.
