Oh my. These luscious cookies will be the hit of any party you take them to. If you enjoy ooey gooey desserts, you’ll love this cherry version. I’ve made them with chocolate chips, blueberries, M&Ms, Red Velvet, peaches, and Andes Peppermint chips. No matter what I use to accompany the cheesecake layer, these drool-worthy goodies always get rave reviews.
Back at the end of June, I received a 20 pound box of cherries from the Northwest Cherry Growers in Washington state. While I did not receive monetary compensation, they asked me to try their product and make a recipe and blog about it. Rather than canning the cherries, I decided to make desserts with the cherries instead. Ten of them to be in fact. Oh my goodness, I was in seventh heaven enjoying all those desserts.
If you’re looking for a fantastic way to enjoy cherries, you simply must make this Cherry Almond Ooey Gooey Blondies for a dessert. No kidding, every mouthful will have you craving another, and another, and another. 🙂 This is simply one of the best cherry desserts ever. But don’t take my word for it. Make one yourself and you’ll see.

If you enjoy cherries, you’ll love this dessert.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
First, make the crust layer. Place cake mix, one egg, almonds and melted butter in a mixing bowl.
Stir with a wooden spoon or fork until combined.
Spread mixture into a greased 9×13″ glass baking dish. I kept my hands moist while pressing the mixture into the prepared dish.
Now make the cheesecake layer: Place softened cream cheese in a mixing bowl. Add powdered sugar, remaining two eggs and almond extract.
Cream ingredients with an electric mixer until smooth.
Pour cream cheese mixture evenly over top of crust layer.
Top with diced, pitted cherries.
Bake about an hour to an hour and 15 minutes at 350, or until mixture is set and the edges are light brown.
Allow blondies to cool completely before sprinkling with powdered sugar.
Cherry Almond Ooey Gooey Blondies are so scrumptious.
The cheesecake layer is superb.

The almonds in the crust and almond flavoring in the cheesecake layer, make these cookies spectacular.
