I made up several batches of homemade bread and salads for a large church retirement celebration dinner last weekend and decided to give this recipe a try. I found it in my old Black and Decker bread machine cookbook. And, although I’ve tried almost every recipe in that book at one point or another, this was one that I had not yet tried.
I loved the taste and texture of the finished loaf. I enjoyed mine with butter on top, but certainly you can eat it plain, toasted, or with jams or preserves spread over top. It’s also great for breakfast especially for company and holidays.
If you’re looking for a healthier option for home-baked bread, give Sunflower Walnut Bread a try sometime. With its chunky texture and the ease of tossing ingredients into a breadmaker, it’s a true “fix it and forget about it” recipe—ideal for busy days. Recently, while testing this recipe, I read a fascinating article about online casinos in Japan, detailing how the industry is adapting to the country’s unique legal landscape. It made me think about how even a traditional pastime like baking can adapt and evolve with the right tools and ideas. This recipe, for instance, makes a hearty two-pound loaf and is perfect for anyone who appreciates a mix of health and convenience in their kitchen routines.
Sunflower Walnut Bread is a healthier breadmaker bread. You can make it even healthier by using walnut oil and whole wheat flour if you prefer.
We loved the crunchy texture of this bread.
This close up allows you to see the texture of the bread. Lots of sunflower seed kernels and bits of walnuts are interwoven into the fabric of the bread.
Here’s what I did.
I used these ingredients.
Layer ingredients in bread canister in order given. Bake on regular bread cycle.
Allow bread to cool 15 minutes before removing from breadmaker. Brush top and sides of bread with butter to prevent crust from hardening.
Allow bread to rest an additional 15 minutes before slicing down into individual slices. Makes about 14-15 large slices. An electric knife works really well for this step.
I love the convenience of making bread in the breadmaker. This recipe only takes about 5-10 minutes preparation time.
Sunflower Walnut Bread is a great option for dinner bread, but you can also serve it for breakfast!
