Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling
Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling is something special. Peach Cobblers have always been one of our favorite desserts. We love cobblers with canned or fresh peaches, but they’re so much better when you can find fresh peaches. That’s not my problem at the moment. I’m being overrun by peaches!

We have six mature peach trees and even with a 50% loss due to birds, squirrels, and worms, we still have tons of peaches! Next year we’ll have to get serious about being peach farmers and figure out ways to reduce the worms and waste. But for now, we still have peaches coming out our ears!
I’ve been busy making cobblers, cakes, pies, cookies and bars for the past couple of weeks as we try to use up some of our peaches. We had a Sunday school class party at a friend’s house a couple of weeks ago and I brought several peach desserts including this tasty recipe.
I had several people tell me this dessert was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! This Peach Cobbler has a homemade peach pie filling on the bottom, then biscuit dough is filled with a praline filling which becomes syrupy and delicious as it bakes. It’s just wonderful.
This is another one of those recipes I clipped out of a magazine back in the very early 1980s. I put it in my cookbook but still hadn’t gotten around to making it. I used to get in ruts with my cooking back in those days and wouldn’t take as many chances with new recipes as I do now. I think I didn’t want to go to all the work of rolling out biscuit dough, but truly this recipe is worth it.
If you’re looking for a dynamite Peach Cobbler recipe then consider trying out this fantastic recipe with it’s scrumptious Praline Filling. It does take more work than many cobbler recipes, but the payoff is outstanding. Your family and friends will fall in love with this dessert. Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling is to die for! But don’t take my word for it. Make up one yourself and you’ll see what I mean.
Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling is sure to cure any sweet tooth craving.
This lovely Peach Cobbler is amazing.
You won’t be able to put your spoon down once you start eating this delectable Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling.
Here’s what I did.
These are the ingredients I used for the peach filling, plus water.
Place sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch in a medium saucepan and heat over medium heat.
Slowly add water to the dry ingredients in the saucepan.
Add peaches and stir to combine.
Bring mixture to a boil and boil for 3-5 minutes until thick.
Spread peach filling into the bottom of a greased 9×13″ baking dish.
These are the ingredients I used to make the biscuit dough.
Put UNBLEACHED flour (bleached flour toughens baked goods), into a mixing bowl. Add baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Cut in Crisco shortening with a pastry blender until well mixed.
Add buttermilk or sour milk.
Stir ingredients to combine.
Place dough on a well floured surface and knead lightly.
Roll dough out into a rectangle.
These are the ingredients I used to make the Praline Filling.
Stir praline ingredients to combine.
Spread Praline Filling over top of rolled out biscuit dough.
Roll up dough tightly.
Cut dough into 15 one to one-and-a-half-inch pieces.
Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and peaches are bubbly.
While we served Peach Cobbler with Praline Filling just like this, you can also add a scoop of ice cream.
Doesn’t this dessert look terrific?

Woah! That looks soo good!
Can you suggest a substitute for the pecans please? Thanks!

Either walnuts or almonds would work fine. Actually any kind of nuts would probably be great–even peanuts or cashews even though they would give this recipe a completely different flavor.

Oh, okay! Thank you 🙂 Will it be fine if I used butter instead of the shortening too?

It will have a different consistency than shortening. But it should work okay. The biscuit dough may not puff up quite as well.
