Turkey Leg Pot Roast
Gluten Free Living – 2020
Turkey Leg Pot Roast is a terrific main dish recipe. The nice thing about this one-dish meal is it’s made in the slow cooker. You just layer everything in the crockpot and let it cook away. 🙂 I can honestly say I never thought twice about making a pot roast with turkey before. But this is a marvelous idea. And, it’s ready in five hours. Yay!

I made this recipe for us back in May when the country was shut down. I’m going to recommend a couple of changes. First, the order everything is put into the crockpot. Second, more seasonings! I doubled the seasonings and am so glad I did. But the recipe can probably use about three times the original recipe. I actually removed the drumsticks after seasoning and sprinkled more over top of the veggies. I just had that sneaking suspicion that the recipe needed more flavor. I was right!
My pictures reflect the way the original recipe reads. I recommend that the chicken broth be poured into the crockpot first. Then add the turkey drumsticks and season generously with all the spices. Add the potatoes and season again. Add the carrots and season a third time. Add the celery, onions and garlic and season one final time. That way the turkey stays moist, the veggies don’t overcook and everything is seasoned appropriately.
The nice thing about Turkey Leg Pot Roast is you can purchase turkey legs throughout the year. You don’t have to make this entree only around Thanksgiving. The whole meal is included in the slow cooker so you really don’t need to add anything else. Nor do you heat up the house during the summer. It’s just a win-win all the way around.
On top of all that, this recipe is healthy, low calorie and gluten free. If you don’t want to break the bank with calories or meal expenses, this is a great dinner option.

Cook on low for five hours.
