Raspberry Poppyseed Dressing

Raspberry Poppyseed Dressing is exhilarating! Truly. I love experimenting with salad dressings and trying to make them healthier. So many store bought dressings are filled with killer ingredients like MSG (which are exo-exiters and screw up your endocrine system), High Fructose Corn Syrup (which causes tumors), and other fillers like GMO soy products (that cause inflammation and cancer), that they totally defeat the purpose of trying to eat healthy.

I tried to use really healthy ingredients in this Raspberry Poppyseed Dressing–starting with avocado oil! Yes, I found a large bottle at Costco and snapped it off the shelf pronto. This recipe also uses both plain and Raspberry Greek yogurt, honey instead of sugar, apple cider vinegar, poppyseeds and, of course, raspberries! The end result is marvelous.

I, personally, really enjoy Greek yogurt dressings. My husband isn’t much of a fan, but it’s a way I’ll eat a lot more salad. I’m not, and never have been, a big Ranch dressing fan (not just because it’s filled with a lot of junk), it’s just a taste thing. I’ve always liked sweeter dressings, probably because I have such a strong sweet tooth. While I like olive oil and vinegar dressings (if they’re slightly sweetened), I like a creamier dressing better. A little bit of honey makes all the difference. So I’ve made quite a few of them and posted them on my blog.

A couple of weeks ago when I made one of the families in our Sunday school a meal because their teenage son was having leg surgery, I wanted to make a totally healthy, clean eating meal for them. I included a delicious salad with this wonderful dressing. They loved it – especially the fruity taste of the salad as well as the dressing. I also made a gluten free Chili Pie with Cheddar Cornbread Crust and a Gluten Free Apple, Peach and Pear Dump Cake Cobbler. Debra told me they cleaned out every bite of food. 🙂

Give Raspberry Poppyseed Dressing a try the next time you want to make a salad with fruit, nuts and cheese. It’s the perfect complement and you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing it’s a lot healthier alternative to almost anything you can purchase in the store these days.

The salad dressing is so thick you can rest whole raspberries on top!

Here’s what I did.

I used these ingredients. I also saw Avocado oil recently at Kroger. It makes a really nice dressing.
